GENERAL EMPLOYMENT

The transition date is scheduled for December 1, 2024. Between now and the transition date, the SSC team in partnership with university leadership, will implement a detailed transition plan with operational leadership, on-site and corporate support team members. We understand the transition will not take place overnight and are taking careful steps to ensure that there will be no interruptions to these important services for students, visitors, and team members.

Jobs held by hourly team members will remain the same as part of the transition. There may be some opportunities for change in the future. If we assess the need to make any changes to meet operational needs, we will be working closely with you to understand the impact of any changes.

No. We welcome all current associates to transition to SSC.

Yes, the university will retain your current employee file. During our onboarding session, SSC will start a new employee file.

Yes, SSC will recognize your date of hire with USF for the purpose of determining eligibility to participate in benefit plans, PTO, and retirement vesting with SSC.

We will do our best not to disrupt current schedules or impact associate’s needs. If there are specific changes that must occur, it will be addressed with the individuals impacted by such a decision to determine how to jointly minimize disruption.

Beginning December 1st, you will follow SSC’s policies & procedures.

SSC will provide new uniforms to all associates.

Yes, SSC will coordinate new badges with the appropriate department. Your access will remain the same.

Only associates hired by USF after September will need to complete the full 90-day orientation period.

Any previous corrective action history will not transfer with you to SSC.
COMPENSATION & PERFORMANCE REVIEWS

All SSC employees are required to sign up for direct deposit or a payroll card. The payroll card allows you to have your paycheck electronically deposited into an account and withdrawn at ATMs or used at Pointof-Sale merchants. The payroll card does not require you to open a checking account. There is no monthly fee for the payroll card, and you are entitled to one (1) free ATM withdrawal per week.

We are paid on a bi-weekly pay cycle on Fridays. Your first paycheck with SSC will be on Friday, December 20th for hours worked on Friday, December 1, 2024, through Thursday, December 13, 2024. SSC’s two week pay period starts on a Friday and ends on a Thursday.
SSC also offers a “same day pay” program to assist employees for any in-between paycheck needs.

Through our Compass Associate Portal (CAP) you will be able to register using your personnel number. With CAP you will have access to your schedules, check timesheets, review paystubs and see your PTO balances. You can also make changes to your personal information such as change of address, tax, & direct deposit. The app can be used on mobile devices, Apple and Android, or a computer.

So long as you have a hire date with USF on or prior to October 1, 2024, you will have coverage beginning on January 1, 2025 (no break in coverage) provided you enroll as instructed in your benefits enrollment information. An SSC New Business Ambassador team member will provide benefit information to you during the onboarding sessions. Your coverage with USF will end at midnight, December 31st.

November of each year is open enrollment. At that time, you may make additions, cancellations, and changes to your plans for coverage effective January 1st of the following year.
*If you have a “life event” during the year (such as getting married or the birth of a child), you may be eligible to enroll at that time. Please contact the Benefits Department to discuss should a “life event” occur.

Transition associates that are currently enrolled in health benefits will receive a benefit bridge to keep premiums the same.

Each insurance plan offered by SSC has an extensive network of healthcare professionals who accept the plan. Each state offers a preferred provider and offers lower rates, however SSC does provide other carrier options which do not fall into the preferred provider rates.
Prior to enrolling in a specific insurance plan, review the network and/or contact your healthcare professional to determine which insurance plan(s) is accepted.

Each insurance plan offered by SSC has an extensive network of healthcare professionals who accept the plan. Prior to enrolling in a specific insurance plan, review the network and/or contact your healthcare professional to determine which insurance plan(s) is accepted.

Your coverage with USF will end at midnight, December 31st. Your health coverage with SSC will begin on January 1, 2025. You will have until December 10th to enroll; however, we encourage you to enroll as early as possible to ensure you receive your benefit cards by January 1st.

Yes, Fidelity Investments administers the 401(k)- retirement plan offered by SSC. Full-time or part-time team members of SSC are eligible for pre-tax contributions of 1% - 100% of your salary (additional “catch-up contributions” available in the year you turn 50).

You will be eligible to enroll immediately with the 401(k) plan. Once you receive your first paycheck you will be able to set up your deductions directly with Fidelity. SSC matches .35 for each dollar you contribute up to 6% of your salary. Vesting is at 50% after 2 years & fully vested after 3 years. You will utilize your original hire date when determining vesting. You may also roll over your current 401(k) funds into SSC’s plan.

The SSC Skilled Labor Apprenticeship Program offered through Interplay, is a paid program that provides associates the opportunity to become licensed in a skilled trade. This program is designed to support career growth by offering practical experience and the necessary training to advance in the skilled trades.
Through this apprenticeship, associates can develop their expertise and achieve significant career milestones within the organization. Interplay Learning offers online training for skilled trades, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, solar, and facility maintenance, through their SkillMill platform. The platform leverages 3D simulations and virtual reality to create immersive, hands-on learning experiences, ensuring users develop practical skills effectively. It features a personalized learning path tailored to each learner's needs, complete with assessments to gauge progress.

Yes, previously approved time off will be granted.

Employees currently eligible for PTO with the university will continue to receive PTO following the university accrual rates based on your hire date with the university. You will follow SSC PTO guidelines.

Your original hire date will be used for FMLA purposes. By law, this type of situation is reflected under the “Successor of Interest” clause for FMLA. Maternity, and paid parental leave will now fall under FMLA with SSC.

Your FMLA status will carry over with SSC. We will work with HR to determine how much time you have taken. You will be required to send in new medical certification documents to SSC’s Leave of Absence department.
